rhodessa jones idris ackamoor rhodessa jones is a performer and activist; through the medea project: theater fpor incarcerated women/hiv circle, she uses art to reach those whom society has marginalized, to promote health and social justice. Idris acamoor is the founder and co-artistic director of the san francisco performance company cultural odyssey and the artistic director of the jazz/world music ensemble, the pyramids. monday february 25 rhodessa jones: a woman for the 21st century -- the media project 4:15 p.m. taylor auditorium science center in this unconventional talk/demo, jones will read from performance material and writings, and perform short excerpts from her repertoire and show video footage of work in the american, south african, and italian prison systems. wednesday february 27 "the ressurrection of she: from fresco to soweto" 7:30 p.m. events barn this new piece is based on jones' life and her work with disenfranchised populations around the world including female inmates in johannesburg, south africa and her recent work with hiv positive women in san francisco. support for these events comes from The Dean of Faculty, Diversity and Social Justice Project, the Days-Massolo Center, Performing Arts at Hamilton, Kirkland endowment Advisory Committee and the Departments of Theatre and Comparative Literature.
